I find it very interesting that the Megs products are so expensive in Canada. I`m surprised, but we have a similar occurrence here for prescription drugs. Hardly a day goes by that I don`t see an ad for Canadian prescription drugs here in Wisconsin. There are several mail order companies that sell sell Canadian drugs to us at substantially reduced prices. The reason for this is that your Canadian government controls what the big drug companies can charge.

So why are the Meg`s products so expensive just a few hundred miles to the north? Are there high taxes or import duties on the products? Can`t you mail order the products from a number of US companies? Is this illegal?

The current exchange rate is around 1.37 therefore a $14 US bottle of NXT should cost around $19 CAN. So who is getting the other $18?

You can order from the States and a lot of us do. Only problem is if you get the wrong Courier company bringing it in (UPS) it may cost you $25.00 or more for "brokerage" charges. Only other item Canucks have to pay are our Sales taxes (15%)

Note to self..."Stop complaining about my 5% sales tax."

    What are "brokerage" charges?

I`ve been to Canada a few times on business. I stayed in Montreal and Ottawa and found both beautiful, clean thriving cities. I seem to recall spending a lot of time in Hull as well.:lol

Brokerage charges are for filling out customs forms.

I guess because sometimes its easier to buy locally, don`t have to wait for it to get mailed and also sometimes the shipping/brokerage charges add up to how much it costs locally. There is a Meguiars Canada headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.
