    hey,

i did some search on the forum, found some good info but thought i`d ask as well, in case i missed something.

my car has some paint chips due to the ice storm we had. i also have a good amount of swirl marks. i can feel SOME Of those marks when i go over them with my fingernail, but most i can`t feel.

from what i`ve aquired on this website so far is that light swirl makrs can be removed (covered) pretty easily . but then i ran across all these terms i didnt know, like dacp and pc. can some explain exactly what they refer to?

also, i recently purchased 2 products to do some work on my 95 525i:

    Meguiars Scratch-X

    Meguiars QuikWax

will those do the trick for the smaller scratches?

i thought if i follow this order, i should be ok:

    1) wash

    2) apply scratch-x with a terry cloth

    3) apply QuikWax

    4) polish if i get some products

of course i dont know enough about detailing, so im sure i`m missing a lot of steps. the truth is, i`ve never really spent a LOT of time on cleaning my car (this one, or my old one).

    any help will be appreciated.

    thanks
    95 525i

For some of the acronyms like "DACP" check this out: http://www.autopia.org/display.php?file=acronyms.htm

You can certainly try Scratch-X out and see if that helps. It might be more successful on the swirls than the scratches though.

I would pick something more "permanent" than QuikWax though. Spray waxes are meant more for "touchup" wax jobs and they don`t really last long at all by themselves...
