Well ive got a 1990 4runner, and it needs a new paintjob. Unfortunatly im going to have to go Maaco because of cost. Ive heard its not that bad as long as you prep well. So, im planning on sanding down the car, removing the moldings valence etc. Question though,

How do I go about sanding my car? I was told thats what i should do, since ive got some bare metal showing (its chipping that bad) Do I just get out the belt sander and get some 200 - 300 grit and go at it? This is the first time ive messed with anything like this so im completely lost as to what needs to be done.

Any other suggestions as to what I can do, to improve the look of the paint before i take it in? Or special washing i should do after its painted? Thanks!

Truthfully it doesn`t matter what you do. It`s going to look like a MAACO paint job. There`s no such thing as a Quality cheap paint job.
