I was curious to know if any particular QD responds better to single stage paint?

I work monthly on a 78` 450 SEL Benz with only 22k miles on it. I`m asked to "primp" it.

I have found that the combination of Sonax wash topped with QuickShine QD renders killer gloss and reflectivity. I stopped using Pinnacle Shampoo and Pinnacle Crystal Mist after I tried this combo. IMHO, it blew the Pinncale away.

The Benz is topped with P21s. The yearly routine has been Final Polish, Vanilla Moose, #7, P21s. I always want to leave the wax off, but he insists!

(I am going to try #62 wash and Final Detail since they were my most recent purchase and compare again).

Back to my question Anyone have better experiences with a certain QD on a certain type of surface??

On my single-stage, Black Onyx (T/L202) Lexus RX 300 I prefer

ClearKote QuikShine over S100, EX, MPPP Souveran...And I`ve used a lot of QDs

Heck, I use it over anything! :up

    Mmmph,

I too have a black onyx Lexus. It`s a 2000 GS 400 and I was recently hit. I now need some work done and was wondering how I can find out if it`s a single stage black or if it has a clearcoat?

Would my Lexus Dealership be able to tell me this? Thanks for your help!

Use a clean foam pad or clean soft cloth and rub your paint with a little paint cleaner, or ScratchX, or rubbing compound, or anything like these products.

If the pad/cloth come up black, you have single-stage paint.

Spilchy- The last time I did the Jag (ss lacquer) I used something very similar to your combo- VM, P21S, Quick Shine (just left out the #7).

Griot`s Speed Shine seems to work well on ss too. It`s what I usually use on the Volvo (Collinite or Meg`s #16, usually over Autoglym`s SRP).
