I have tried Autoglyms Paint Renovator with a cutting pad - strong stuff indeed. Not sure if I would recommend others to try but it worked for me.

Note that there are a few different "Perfect-It Rubbing Compound"s. The one *I* use most is the PI-III (pn 05933). Like IndigoGTI, I can often go straight from this to my last step product.
There`s also a PI-II FCRC that`s ABOUT the same, but a little more aggressive (IMO).
Accumulator, I too was wondering about the difference between PI-II and PI-III FCRC. 3M has a brochure entitled "PI-III Paint Finishing System" (downloadable in PDF), which contains a figure giving the relative cut of four compounds. In order of least aggressive to most agressive, the chart gives:
FI-II (05928)
PI-II RC (05973)
PI-III RC (05933)
PI-III Extra Cut RC (05936)
So according to 3M anyway, the PI-II RC is less aggressive than the PI-III RC.
