ive been using 49 body shine by auto magic and i think it works great. However ive seen qd`s that have polymers and carnuba but i figured if you are a zaino person and you dont use Z6 should that be ok to use a qd w/carnuba.. or ifyou use aio, sg, topped with p21s could you top that with a detailking product qd that has polymers.

does the mixing and matching of these qd`s have to = what its being applied to

    i.e.

qd w/carnuba applied to vehicle with CM

qd w/ polymer sealant applied with #20

    get my ?

Yeah, I get your ? And the answer is no, you don`t need to match your QD to your wax or sealant. I think the only legitimate exception is Zaino Z6 but that`s because Zaino products are designed to work as a system and Z6 really does enhance the existing product that`s on the car.

Beyond that I think most all QD`s are the same or at least very similar. Water, alcohol, silicone emulsion, maybe a wax emulsion, maybe some surfactant (cleaner), fragrance, and coloring. That`s about it. QD`s aren`t rocket science. Use whichever one you like best.

Actually I use and enjoy plain ol Meguiars Quick Detailer...

My satisfaction with the consistent quality of Poorboys products is going to lead me towards trying some of his QD though, when I make my spring order. I`d also like to try FD (I dont like FI) and QuickShine.

If you want to play it safe, just stick with QDs that don`t advertise any carnauba content.

Why don`t you want any carnauba?

It`s incase you go to re-apply a sealant over it. The carnauba MAY interfere with the bonding. Again, as 4DSC said, "If you want to play it safe." This doesn`t mean that you`ll have to strip everything if you happened to put a qd with wax on a sealant.

My favorites are Mothers showtime and meguiars final detail.

I like to use final inspection when I am removing dust after polishing.

Just ran out of FI (really like it). I have some Quik Shine to use now, we`ll see how it compares.

I really don`t have a favorite and the wife likes FI`s smell. High dollar stuff (i.e. WG, etc.) doesn`t impress me on the bang-for-the-buck scale. Make WG gallon`s at $15-23 and maybe I`m interested again. Haven`t got my QD+ yet.

I lean slightly towards #49 over FI (gallons, you see.) Side panel...fine spray of distilled...the #49 had the tiniest beads and sheeted the heavy stuff sooner. Besides, #49`s much cheaper than FI, locally available, and maybe better. Not very scientific and who knows which last longer, etc.

I`m going to try a local Auto Magic distributer`s house brand made in El Paso at $12 a gallon when I run out of everything. I`m told by locals they like it over #49. :nixweiss??? Gold is where you find it.

For OTC products Mother`s Showtime and Meguiar`s Final Inspection.

I really love Poorboy`s Spray and Wipe. I cut it 50% with water if I`m not going to be using it on a dirty vehicle and just for quick detailing after washing or waxing.

I have been using Eagle One Wax As You Dry. I mix it 3 parts water and 1 part WAUD and use it as a QD. Works great, leaves a great shine and slick surface and no streaks. I was really suprised how well it cleans to. I was using Megs #34 FI but I like the Eagle One much better.

I like that one for an off-the-shelf QD. I like Sonus Acrylic Spritz as well, but I use Klasse.
