I was watching mythbusters last night and they were expeimenting with cola on different things. One thing they tried was cola wiped with aluminum foil versus "a leading chrome cleaner" on a old rusty bumber on a beat up ford. Well you couldn`t tell from the camera but they said the cola/foil side came out much better then the cleaner side. Anybody ever heard of this. Just thought you guys might like to know.

    Talk about Old Skool Detailin`........

That one is prolly in those "Hints From Heloise" books (or whatever they`re called). That trick has been around for decades.

But it just goes to show, even an old trick is new to someone everyday.

Mythbuster also did a show where they tested it on Blood as well lol. It did work better than water alone. They used Pigs blood to do the test but it was interesting. They also did the test where they say you can put a penny in coke, and a raw t-bone steak, etc. and it will dissolve it. Seems that they like to do test with Coke as I have watched the show since it started coming on.

But it leaves an undesirable sticky feeling on it. Baking Soda and water works just as well.

Coke has been used as a last resort on bad windshields in the past. The acid etches the surface and helps to clean , no it wont take out your chips

After you wash a piece of chrome, polish it with the aluminum foil. You`ll be rather surprized at how good it looks. Pitted rust stained chrome? SOS pad, then the aluminum foil. Many a motorcycle has fork seals that live because of this old technique.

Just ask someone who owns an antique or classic car and they`ll most likely know about this trick with aluminum foil. It works especially well on pitted rust stained chrome.

Maybe once for a really bad rust problem, BUT Coke has a very high acid content and with continued use I`m positive it will eat through the chrome.
