Just like the title suggests. You have a friend or loved one who wants to start taking care of their car. Put together a user friendly package that they could hit the ground running with minimal instruction.

    My package:

    Carnauba based:

Meguiars Swirl Free Polish or #9 2.0

    Clearkote`s Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze

Clearkote`s Carnauba Moose or S100 Paste Wax

    Eagle 20/20 Glass Cleaner

    Clearkote`s Quikshine

    Armor All Original Formula Protectant

    Eagle One Tire Swipes

    Meguiars Foam Hand Pads

    6-8 Microfiber towels

    Sealant based:

Meguiars Swirl Free Polish or #9 2.0

Klasse AIO or Poorboy`s Polish w/Carnauba

Poorboys EX Sealant (I picked EX instead of SG or UPP because it dries a lot faster, you can apply it to the whole car then remove immediately instead of waiting 30-60 minutes)

    Eagle 20/20 Glass Cleaner

    Clearkote`s Quikshine

    Armor All Original Formula Protectant

    Eagle One Tire Swipes

    Meguiars Foam Hand Pads

    6-8 Microfiber towels

Good idea Scott. I already started to put together a kit to offer as a raffle prize for our car club in the spring. It will have some of the basics in a nice gift basket. You gave me some good ideas.

How inexpensive can you make a decent kit? Every time I try to do it, I get up near $100.

Here is the cheapest kit I could recommend. It`s for a beginner. I figure, for the clueless, focus on swirl prevention.

2 packs of Viper MFs from Kmart, $5 each.

2 sheepskin wash mitts, $5 each.

    2 pack of Meg`s foam applicators, $2

1/2 gal Eagle One car wash, $3

    (Notice it`s already $25)

    An Absorber, $10

    Meg`s Cleaner Wax, $5

    Stoner`s MSLT, $4

Stuff it all in a 5 gal Baja del Sol Bucket from Target, $5.

$49 is the cheapest kit I could put together in good conscience. I guess I could find an item for a buck or two less here or there, but that`s it.

Thanks for that guys! I was thinking of a kit to put together for GF`s mum. She bought a new car last month and wanted me to tell her what to buy to keep it clean.

I guess I oughta detail it for her really - extra brownie points and all that!
