ok i called meguiars about a week ago to get the correct backing pad for my pc buffer and order a few things, the jerk on the phone was very short with me and to say the least not very pleasant to talk to. ok, no problem, everyone has a bad day. well yesterday i get my catalog in the mail along with a written letter, telling me if i have any question to email a specific person they have assigned me to. well i email him with a bout 5 questions about their products, and a couple question about meguiars reps in chicago and when meguiars will be in town for shows, etc. he writes back "M07 is not as effective in a high humidity environment. The M81 Hand Polish would be superior if you live in a high humidity environment" i took this to be weak attempt to anwer my questions and he didn`t even answer half of them. i ALWAYS buy meguiars products and don`t even look at any other brand, but if this customer service continues to lack a little more friendly atmosphere, i think it`s time to move on to a different product line. i understand im just a regular ole` joe schmoe who isn`t buying hundred`s of dollars in products, but a tad more respect would help.

The meg`s rep I`ve corresponded to via email was very professional and courteous. I am sure you can ask for another person for help...

When I first started this forum I bought Mcguires.

I had a problem with their claybar and called them 3 times trying to solve the problem.

I got three different answers, none worked, all three reps were rude and acted like they were mad because I bothered them.

I threw all my mcguires products in the garbage can and because I had read so many posts here where Forrest from Mothers helped people with their problems I replaced all my Mcguires products with Mothers products.

Have been very happy with Mothers products and Mothers customer support.

Sorry to here this...When I worked their..I was very professional and helpfull..However, I also enjoyed what I was doing and auto detailing..When anyone run`s into these issue`s or other`s with a major corporation..it`s alway`s a good thing to speak to a supervisor..Let them know how you were treated and the way you felt..You might be surprised with the result`s..
I use to work for Meguiar`s Inc. Surface care product`s for 3-year`s as a surface care specialist.. Part time auto detailer...

pm mike phillips, he is a meguiars rep on here that knows more than most meguiars tech ppl over there in cali. He`ll let you know what products you need and how to use them, not giving you bs and praising products just bc its made by meguiars.

They are right about the #81 hand polish versus #7 in high humidity. I have used both and I can honestly say #81 is much easier to apply and remove without struggling, heck, youll want to get rid of #7 once you try #81 hand polish.

Well I must say that my experiences with Meguiars are completely the opposite. Every time I have a problem or question (twice so far) they have been extremely helpful and professional and more than happy to help me out. Kudos to them. :up :up

    weedsnager,

Unfortunately, what you experienced is very much the norm from the Meguiar`s call centre. Even at trade shows, the information you receive is definitely sub-par for a organization like Meguiar`s.

Generally speaking, the are not very knowledgable and if you talk to 3 different people, you`ll get 3 different answer`s to even some of the most basic of questions. The car care Rx is a neat idea but the Rx is hooky at best.

It`s a real shame because Meguiar`s still makes some very very good to excellent products. Fortunately, there are sites like this and we are lucky to have someone like Mike Phillips who chimes in quite often and provides us with the sort of information that we have always wanted for Meguiar`s products.

Not that means Meguiars should be left off the hook for their very sub-poor knowledge management but at least, we can get the more in-depth answers we are looking. Too bad for the 100,000`s if not millions of Meguiars users who end up dealing with less than professional or knowledgeable Meguiar`s staff and haven`t yet found Autopia.

Aside from the fact that the products are outstanding (although not everyones` personal favorite), the product reps are abysmal. I requested a pro catalog, and got a consumer catalog with an email address. I emailed my guy, twice, and never got a response.

For me personally, it`s no big deal; if I have a question, I go to Show Car Garage and ask it. But it`s not a very good "face" for Meg`s to project. It`s a fantastic concept (you can reach a rep at 4:30 EST Sunday afternoon, if you don`t believe me, try it), but if the people don`t fulfill the promise, what should be a positive, innovative approach to customer service becomes a souring experience. I get the feeling that they are afraid of "brown bottle" questions, that they prefer "maroon bottle" questions.

Unfortunately, good customer service is becoming scarce in most industries. Have you ever called tech support at Dell? What I have found is the small businesses such as Clearkote, Poorboys, etc., provide the best service...Andrew

My dealings with Meguiars have always been very pleasant. My Meguiars distibuter is also top notch and is very knowledgable about Meguiars products (rlspringer will know what I am talking about!). I`ve also been fortunate that my distributer let me know when the Meguiars training center was in town (it is a converted 18 wheeler trailer with a classroom inside).

Sorry to hear you`ve had such poor customer service. Like hondaguy said, you may want to PM Mr. Phillips and let him know about the poor customer service you received. He seems like someone who cares how people are treated by Meguiars.

BTW, I second the motion that once you try Hand Polish your bottle of #7 will probably never be used again.
