Car wax = dust/lint magnet, what repels dust??

Regardless of the brand of polish or car wax I use, it seems that the process creates some form of surface charge that attracts lint and dust. Just one trip down my gravel road negates all the work I`ve done.



I realize that a black car and gravel road aren`t the best combination, but is there a readily available product that actually creates the opposite surface effect and repels lint and dust??

Its the static charge you impart into the paintwork when you polish it that attracts the dust ....





Not much you can do although some folks have had success by grounding the vehicle to a pipe overnight and see if that drains it away some.

I too noticed what seemed to be more dust after Zaino. Read about the "problem" here as it seems many people have it.

Last week after another coat of Z & the car sat in the lot at work all day I noticed that the windows were just as dusty as the rest of the car. I did nothing to the windows but wash them.

Could it be that we just notice the dust more because the car is so clean?

Just a thought.

davefr, only solution to your dust problem requires a moving van. Doont ya just love it...

Well, if you live in a dry climate, like the prairies, then dust is always going to be a problem. Grounding the car would help. So will give the car a wash after waxing. You might also want to look into a California Car duster too. I just got one and am going to experiment with it after many good reviews.

You may also want to look into the possibility that your buffing towels may be imparting a static charge to the paint. I think this problem was discussed a few weeks ago, so try running a search for that thread and see. Good luck!
