I would recommend a clay bar.. Clay Magic and Mothers seem to be the best. You can use each one with some quick detailing spray or just use some car wash soap and mix it with water in a spray bottle.

Clay always goes in a direct back and forth motion. I don`t know if clay is what you need though. Are you saying you just got some degreaser on your fenders or something like that? I would use clay for something like paint overspray but not for degreaser. You can get that stuff off with just soap and water. If you have some kind of detailing spray (QD) lying around then you could use that. Its nothing serious that is going to hurt your paint.

Ah, for that then you want to use clay. Just go in the direction the air moves over your car when you are driving. (front to back) There are instructions on the clay package when you get it. I would look in AutoZone for some Clay Magic or Mother`s clay. Try to find those before you get a different brand. They seem to work the best.

I`m pretty new to all this too and I can vouch that clay is very easy to use. Read the instructions, use light pressure, keep it well lubricated with QD or soap and water and it works wonders. Just did it on my windows to remove crud that soap and/or window cleaner wouldn`t touch and the clay left them spotless.
Dream big and be willing to do the work to get there.
