    Hey Autopia people,

Sorry if this is a newb style question but ive been confused about Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 According to CMA CMA Meguiars #9 its a nonabrasive SMR that just fills them in. After reading several threads here, you can use them to remove swirls and not fill them in leading to me to the conclusion that it must be a mild abrasive. Even the bottle says its level 3 on cutting power.

So the final question is is Meguiars #9 an abrasive or is it a non abrasive? And Can it be used to remove swirls rather than just filling them in?

    Thanks a bunch guys!

I would say that it is an abrasive that does have the ability to remove swirls. I have seen a noticable difference in swirls after #9 and even when I use Klasse AIO (which would remove the fillers) the swirl reduction is still evident. CMA may have a different definition of abrasive than I do. Maybe to be considered an abrasive it has to have a certian level of something in it. How can it clean your paint or remove swirls without abrasives in it? It may not be very much but it has to have something. That`s not necessarily a bad thing. If you want swirls gone then you have to use an abrasive of some sort.

    Welcome to Autopia Nicotin2. :welcome

Be wary whenever companies (even CMA) tell you something is "non-abrasive". Quite often a product IS abrasive, but only very mildly, so they "consider it non-abrasive". Remember that "abrasive" is an evil word in the marketing department. It`s far more informative to ask or search for it here at Autopia and to know what the product`s job is. Like Jngr said, you can`t remove swirls and clean paint without abrasives...
