in order to use it as a buffer/polisher? Thanks.
You`ll need the velcro backing plates and some pads, check out CMA for all that stuff. *as well as a counterweight if you are going up to 6 in pads*

i guess what i really want to know about is the bottom line!:p i can order the 7224 from Coastal Tools for ~ $120 + shipping; i`ve heard the 7336 is about $109 at Lowes; about how much would the velcro backing plate from CMA cost (i`ll be ordering most of my detailing items from CMA anyway); thanks for the help!
(i want to start my detailing this weekend, would CMA be able to get me my order by Fri. if i place it tomorrow?)
The 7336 has the 6" counterweight.
If you want to order the porter cable velcro backing plate (like the one provided by Griots), I`d order the 18001 from Coastal Tool.
CMA has all the pads you could ever want!

I ordered mine from coastal tool. $119 and come with a free 6 backing pad and 6" counterweight.
Lots of vodka.
(I got the 7424 "kit" from coastal tool. $119 for both the 7424 and the velcro plate.)
Porter Cable 7336 + DM-KIT or DM-DLX = All you need besides products and towels
