i had one of those air refresheners(Norsk? looks like a leaf) and I think the outside fibers got stuck to the steering column . . Not good. So now the fibers look like they got glued to the column. What product should I use to remove it?

Hmm, you say "glue" and I instantly think "Goo Gone".
I assume you`ve tried other stuff?
Havent applied anything to it yet. I have this thing called Goof Off. But I`m afraid it will remove the paint. I don`t want to use a product that will remove paint.
If I recall right, "Goof Off" is some seriously strong stuff meant to take off paint that you got somewhere you don`t want to (hence "goof"). Goo Gone seems to be pretty safe stuff. People with cars like mine have used it to remove the glue holding on the side moldings to their (painted) doors. Maybe try a search on this stuff here and see what others say just to be 100% sure.
i`ve used goof off and it was pretty strong. isn`t there an automotive goo gone?
