    hi guys,

Could you answer the following newbie questions for me please.

    1) Is the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze safe for use on clear-coat finishes.

    2) Is it a paint cleaner or a polish? Would the Meguairs equivalent be the Madallion Paint Cleaner or the Show Car Glaze?

It`s just that I`ve found a local place to get hold of 3M products. In the UK, we don`t get as many of the premium brands as you guys in the US, so finding out info on them would be quite difficult without this forum.

    Thank you very much,

    1) Yes, it`s safe for use on clear-coated finishes.

    2) It`s a body-shop safe polish (aka Glaze) with a very low abrasive content. The Meguiar`s equivalent would be the Show Car Glaze.

This product works well when used right before applying wax.

3M IHG is strictly a glaze. Zero cleaning/polishing properties that I could detect.

Do you have access in the UK to Meguiar`s #9. You can use that alone for some minor cleansing and glaze application and/or follow with the IHG for additional glazing.:wavey

You might want to go to www.3m.com for some information on their products.

    For your questions.

    1. Yes

    2. Not really a polish or cleaner. It is more of a filler and glaze, (shine producer). Meguiar`s #7 would be pretty close to the same thing. IHG was much easier for me to use than #7.

    Great... thanks for the replies.

this leads to a couple of more questions then, i"m afraid:

    1) Is the IHG better than Meguiars Show Car Glaze?

    2) I still need a paint cleaner then? I have some of Meguairs Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner - is this product any good/suitable for use before the IHG?

    Again, many thanks,

Meguiar`s Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner is a good product and will serve your purpose for cleaning.

IHG is a bit difficult to work with but does a good job. There has been threads about the user-friendliness of the Mother`s Glaze. For those that have used the Mother`s Glaze seemed to be quite pleased.:wavey

But, can he get Mother`s products in th UK?

Remember, the out of the U.S. detailers have a heck of a time finding products and have to pay Big bucks to get anything shipped to them.
