I`ve read some places that you should mist the polishing pad with water before applying polish (3m SMR in my case), and I`ve read to do it dry. In what situations would I want to mist the pad, and which ones require it to be dry?

    thanks,

Most people talk about misting the pad to allow you to work the polish in longer.

I tried to do it but even a light mist severly increases the splatter.

I`d say spread your polish out w/ the PC, then run over it once, and then put a light mist and start working it again. Will give you a little more working time.

I make an x with the product on the PC pad. Then move it around the panel a little. I then turn it on and have fun detailing.

I have never wet the pads with water, but a few times i have given them one spray of QD on it.

additionally if you`re applying zaino with the pc, use a couple sprays of Z6 and it`ll make it alot smoother to apply.
