Will the Meguiars foam polishing pads work with the 3M velcro backing plate?

I have my PC. And I have meguiars pads lined up in a group buy. The problem is that apparently the Meguiars W64-DA velcro backing plate isn`t very good. Will the meguiars pads work with the 3M velcro backing plate? Is anyone currently using this combo?

Hey Bill, I`m trying to keep my ear on this PC stuff (even though I probably won`t get one

). Have you seen THIS thread?

This sounds like an awesome idea to me, for people on both sides of the border! I`ve seen those velcro conversion kits everywhere and I`m surprised no one`s brought this up before. All you need is the sanding pad that comes with the "SP" kit.

Hey Brian.

The problem is, CT doesn`t sell the "SP" model. The PC I have just comes with the polishing pad, not the sanding pad. And I haven`t seen the sanding pad sold seperately anywhere.

Paco confuses me. In the abay thread he first said that the 3M backing plate won`t work with Meguiars pads, then he said they would.

I wish I knew what the story was.

Strange, I went to CT yesterday and I saw my 1st PC at a CT - oddly, it was a 7424SP with a sanding disc and a bottle of Megs wax. $218.

They must be having a regional sale at CT in BC. I saw three PC`s yesterday and they all were the standard 7424 with just the polishing pad. And the cost was 239.99.
