This weekend I used 3m SMR on my hood with a yellow cutting pad. I was pleased to see that I got many more swirls out this way (as opposed to with the CMA white pads). What`s bothering me now is that at certain angles, on the passenger side of the hood, and top of the front fender, I can see scrtaches in the clear. They`re NOT anything i can "feel" at all, but they didn`t go away with the yellow pad, SMR and the PC on 5 to 6!

What now? Do I do this again, and apply more pressure? Should I go to FI-II and use the same technique? Or perhaps a wool leveling pad is in order here? I`ve been told to STAY AWAY from these, but maybe these stubborn scratches need that!

If so, can i get some step-by-step techniques as to how to go at it....?

    thx!

You can try the FI-II using the same type of pad and see what you get. As you know, you want to start with the least abrasive method possible and then get more agressive, as needed.

I would steer clear of the wool pad, until you become really proficient with PC use. A wool pad can burnthrough paint or go right through the clear if you catch an edge. Definitely something you don`t want to have happen!
