My windows when I try and clean them look smeared, and appear to look like they have Rain X on them, I bought the car new, and never put any of that stuff on the glass, water beads on them the same way.

I bought new cotton towels, washed them double rinsed the soap out, never used a fabic softner when washing, no dryer sheet when drying them.

I use a product called Clear Vue ( window cleaner )made by Turtle Wax, no amonia in it as I have tinted windows.

Whats a decent window cleaner I can use, thats safe on the tint and doesn`t smear.

Is there a way to get that road oil or Rain X off. I just Zanioed the car so I don`t want to use Dawn on the glass.

    Thanks Tom F.

Dawn will not remove Rain-X, it`s not strong enough to break the silicone bond. Lighter fluid will remove Rain-X and strip the glass clean. Use this on the outside only!!!! Eagle One 20/20 glass cleaner is pretty good, window film safe and does not streak much. You can find it at places like AutoZone for around $2:xyxthumbs

for a regular glass-cleaning solution, I would try Stoner`s Invisible Glass.... I find that this produces the best "streak free, cloud free" shine....

Also you might be interested in trying newspaper to buff the windows with when you clean them up.... newsprint can help polish out mild streaking and cloudy patches.

Try Mothers clay bar first, than the newpapers and cleaner then a second time with a cleaner and clean micro fiber rag.

    They will look like showroom.

I go over my windshield about every 6 months with Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner/Polish then Swirl Free Polish, then wash the windows and clean them with Eagle`s 20/20 glass cleaner. Regular use of 20/20 also repells water almost as good as Rain X.

Someone else has probably already posted this but I get great results from warm water with a splash of vinegar. Always gets my windows showroom clean.:xyxthumbs

ProWax`s AGC-18 Aerosol Glass Cleaner and a Microfiber towel! Impossible to streak!!! It is also Approved safe for tinted windows. It is also cheap like $4 a can and they last a long time!

I`ve had very good success with both Griot`s glass cleaner an EFCV with a microfiber towel.
