After getting the new MBZ C Coupe home, I did the following steps Saturday:

    1. Wash with p21s power wash

    2. Zaino Clay

    3. 3M Swirl Remover for Light colored cars

    4. Wash with Z7

I then proceeded to put ZFX enhanced Z2 on. Waited one hour and started to buff off. While the shine was better than most, I was certainly not impressed and actually wonder if z1 plus z2 I did the first time on the Audi was better.

    Any thoughts?

The only thing I can see is leftover residue from SMR,

I`m afraid that Z7 did not remove it completely.

My opinion is to wash with Dawn or similar, and proceed with Z

    Happy detailing

I agree. Probably best to stick to the tried and true.

Wash with dawn, clay, wash again with dawn to get rid of clay residue, then Z2-ZFX.

Here`s a question for more experienced Z users.

If Z1 was supposed to be a lock prior to Z2-Z5 app. then why wouldn`t it hold true for 1st app of Z2-Z5 ZFX combinations?

I`m sure there must be alot of unused Z1 sitting around.

    Any comments.

I found that it takes several layers of Z to get the "wow" factor you`re probably looking for. After my first Z application, I noticed a few places where I didn`t fully remove some SMR residue so I re-SMR`d. The next application of Z went on much better and after 3 layers I started getting the results I was looking for. Now I`m sitting at about 12 layers and I have no plans for stopping anytime soon .
If it works, is safe, and you like it...use it!

Did it take one hour to dry or did you just wait that long? because ZFX activated Zaino will dry by the time you finish that particular panel, I did two coats on my hood last night and even though the humidity was high, when I did got done doing one side of the hood the other side was already dry and ready to be removed. When you have Zaino with ZFX mixed up I would be prepared to do at least 2 coats and preferred 3 coats while you have the ZFX mixed up.

    Thanks guys,

We`ll see what happens after a few more layers.

I also think that darker colors bring out the shine much better. We`ll see.
