Here`s my Volvo 850. It isn`t new (1995), but it is the first nice car that I`ve owned. We bought it this April.

I clay barred with Mother`s two weeks ago. I washed with Dawn. I used Meguiar`s Deep Crystal Paint cleaner on a small area, but it didn`t seem to do anything. I tried Meguiar`s no 9 swirl remover and I could see some improvement and it was easier to remove, so I did the whole car with it `cause the whole car seems to have a lot of swirl marks (unless I don`t understand what swirls are, and I`m not quite sure). Then I used Meguiar`s DC Polish and finished with Meguiar`s Gold Class Wax. I`m going to put another coat on. I just got too pooped doing the preceding. You guys must be in pretty good shape. I went and got middle-aged and out of shape.

At the parking lot at Costco:

I like your 850, Taxlady! That deep green is a good color for volvos. Sounds like we got our volvos around the same time.

Your web page is neat!! Cat lover here, too ~ I liked your cat avatar, btw!! (my home page link is in my profile if you want to view the kitties)

I wish they were the winter wheels. It`s the base model and didn`t come with alloy wheels. I will be getting another set of steel wheels when I buy winter tires, so I don`t have to have the tires taken off the rims twice a year.

Congrats on your new used Volvo! My parents had a 1993 black 850 with the same black trim on the bumpers. Dressing it with a dark, low-gloss protectant really helped make the car look nicer and remove the old, chalky appearance.

Or maybe you can look into some trim dye like "Forever Black." Good luck and have fun with the 850!

Good Job on the Volvo! Looks like you, Volvo4me and I have something in common. I also like cats. Once I relocate, I will have a Maine Coon in my possession.

Don`t you mean a Maine Coon cat will have you in his/her possession?

BW, now you`ve got me wondering about that trim and bumpers. I think they are dark grey, not faded black. I`ll phone Volvo and ask what colour they started out.

    Taxlady,

I think they are a kind of dark grey, too, not black. Mine are grey -- they darken up with protectant, but never get to black.

That may very well be true but I know for a fact that I will enjoy it.
