looking for a compact hose

Want a hose that I can store in my bins with all my other stuff for when IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m mobile. I saw two at the local marine store. One was a coiled hose (looks like slinky) and the other was a nylon hose that reeled up. Anyone have either of these or have another option? I was tempted to get the nylon hose but remember someone telling me that they can get punctured easily, this was a long time ago so maybe they use better materials now?

I`ve seen a hose on TV that lies flat when there`s no water in it. Who knows how it really is, but they make it look good on tv...but don`t they always!!

I have been looking into the flat hose advertised on TV with the usual sceptasizm one would approach most `special TV` products.

I have one of the coiled hoses. Its a PIA, I would not recommend it for general use. I have kinked mine and I have been very careful with it. I use it with a RV.

Camping World also has a flat hose that comes in 25` and 50` lengths called the Handi-Hose. It`s available with or without the hose reel.

Just go to Ebay, and search for "flat hose" 50 feet is going for 10 bucks.

Those flat hoses have been around a long, long time. My granddad used to have one made by Toro. That was probably 10 years ago. From what I recall of it, it was nice and convenient, but it will sweat a little kinda like a soaker hose, but not as extreme.

make sure there 5/8 around not 1/2 inch you need a bigger water flow!

The ads for the "flat hose" say it is simialr to the hose the firefighters use. I doubt it. The hoses we use are double jacketed (two layers of woven material) and rubber lined.

If you are mobile and using a truck, why not just put your hose on a reel ?

The flat hose sucks...I got one last month. Sprung a leak on the first use. "Accessories" (nozzle and roller) are very cheaply made.

I will say that the company was good enough to give me full refund upon return.

The idea of a flat hose sounds great, but it does seem subject to many leaks. Anybody else have one and have problems with it?

My wife got one of the coiled hoses for watering the plants on the front porch. It works fine for that, but the water pressure is very low compared to my old hose (because of the small diameter) so it sucks for washing off the porch, it would probably suck for washing cars too.

I did some more searching around, and it appears that flat hoses can be found at marine and RV stores, and my guess is that the quality of those will be quite a bit better than "As Seen on TV". I`m going to try to check out a couple of places this weekend; if I find anything useful, I`ll pass it along . . .

I have seen the small diameter coiled hoses and think that they hold up ok. I have the 5/8" coiled hose and it has not been satisifactory. It kinked the second time I used it.
