    They finally arrived.

After a nice wash, is it okay to apply AIO over very minor swirls, light scratches and stains in the paint from a few bird drops?

If the swirls do not disappear, is it okay to then apply 3M SMR over the AIO? If not, what is suggested.

I understand I apply the SG only after a successful AIO application is finsihed.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

do all your paint prep with any abrasives or clay products prior to using AIO. Apply the AIO when you are satisfied with the paint condition.

    Good luck!

You don`t need to use AIO at all. Just make sure your car is clean and polished before applying KSG for the best results. AIO and KSG do complement each other very well, though.

Use 3M SMR before you apply AIO or SG. SMR is an abrasive product, and would remove the Klasse. Try to get as many imperfections out of the paint as you can before applying AIO or SG. I would use AIO before SG, and not just the SG alone. The AIO will clean the paint and leave some protection on it. Plus, the AIO will make the finish more durable rather than just using SG alone.

ShowroomLincoln makes a great point, as your paint needs to be absolutely clean before you begin to add AIO and SG. Clean paint = great final results.

Waxman has a good point regarding the application of AIO and SG. AIO is a great product to put as a base for SG, but you do not have to put AIO on the car first.

AIO does help with the minimization of swirl marks, but products like Finesse It II, and 3M Swirl Mark Remover do a much better job, as Waxman and other pointed out. They contain mild abrazives, which in turn take minor scratches and swirl marks out of the paint and clear coats of cars and trucks.

Do some searches on SG and AIO applicatioin. There have been many posts regarding the Twins.

    Best of luck!

Whether you use a paint cleanser, (CMA has a good one,) a swirl remover, (3M for light or dark cars,) Finesse-it 2, another slightly more abrasive compound, or fine cut rubbing compound, please get your paint in first class shape.

The secret of a good shine is all in the paint prep. Get the swirls, stains, and scratches our, first.

And feel free to try claying the surface to pick up the rest of the contaminants, and give it a smooth feel.

Read the detailing tips for a perfect shine, or go back through the archives.

It sounds like you just can`t wait to get a great shine. Well, take your time and prep your paint, and you won`t be sorry.

Please let us know how you make out. Enjoy!
