General newbie question...drying my Porsche

First time poster. Thanks in advance!



Hope this isn`t a stupid and obvious question...But, here it goes:



Is it acceptable to use a blowing type machine to dry your car? Something like this: Metro Full Size Vac N` Blo 4.0 HP Vacuum, car vacuum and blower, vac and blow, metro vac



Seems like this would be a great-easy-fun and no scratch way of drying a car. Am I missing something??? Or, is this a great way to dry your car after you wash it?

PS: If it matters, it would be used on 3 cars. 1.) 2007 Porsche Carrera (GT Silver Metallic) 2.) 2004 VW Touareg (White) and 3.) 2003 Honda CR-V (Silver).

Blowers like that Metro (I use an air compressor for that) are best for getting water out of nooks and crannies. To get most of the water off the larger panels, I`d suggest something like an AirWand (which I use). Smaller units just don`t work efficiently on large areas, and *none* of these blow-dry methods work well unless the LPS ("Last Step Product", i.e., "wax") is a) healthy and b) the kind that water easily moves across.

I use my leafbloewr to dry my cars, and have come to the conclusion that it`s impossible to just blow the water off - it looks dry, but shine the hallogen on it and you`ll see hundreds of teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeny tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny water specs, almost as if they dried as they were blown off (this though may have to do with my really mineralized water content, I don`t know since it`s well water)



Typically what I do is with ONR is:



Wash panel

Using waffle weave towel take 1 or 2 swipes at the main blobs

leafblower the rest off

move onto next panel



then when it`s all finished go over the entire car with some QD to remove the tinnnnny water spots that the leaf blower leaves behind.

Sure, just follow up with a plush microfiber towel to remove the rest of the water.

I use the detachable leaf blower off my Shop Vac every time. With a good LSP most of the water blows off. I use a couple of WWs to go over and get the residual water. The bonus is minimal touching of the finish and it gets the water out of the nooks and crannies, moldings, etc. Just have to be careful, it`s easy to brush the tip on the finish and leave marring. It`s such a quick and easy way to dry I sometimes go too fast.



The wetter of the two WWs then gets used to wipe out the door jambs and around the hood and trunk. The 2nd WW usually stays fairly dry and clean so it gets flipped over and used next wash.
