Ppf/clear bra

When ever I get ppf done. I would probably just get the front end done. Hood, bumper fender mirrors and headlights. What do you like better ppf or ceramic coating. Thanks

Perfect world, both. Have done ceramic to death, still like it for daily drivers but for our `hobby` cars, which are generally daily driven as our only cars from May thru November, PPF + Ceramic is worth the investment to me. Everybody`s different though so no universal best solution for everyone.

If $$ was no object ALL my cars would be PPF + Ceramic.

For a brand new car used as a daily driver you say getting the whole thing ceramic coated is better than just getting the front end package ppf done. Thanks

If you do a lot of freeway driving, PPF the front end and then DIY the ceramic with an easy to use `lite` coating like Gyeon CanCoat. CanCoat can be pretty much like using a spray wax as far as ease of use goes. Around $60 for a container of it, will get ya a few applications; every 6-8 months of great performance with each application.

If you don`t do much freeway driving, PPF isn`t as necessary, could probably skip PPF. Freeways just ruin front ends with chips/pitting.

Perhaps if the ppf is really old it will turn yellow...

I took some ppf off the sides of my Jeep, that was installed in 2009, using only a carefully applied heat gun, and it was clear, not yellow...

I just slowly heated and pulled up an edge and just kept heating and pulling and it all came off in one door size sheet... Never saw Xacto whoopsies, etc.., either...

Guess i was lucky or had really great installers...

Bull -

Have you seen installs from the shop you`re considering. That would be very important. Granted pricing is regional, but in my area, it would be at least another K for a front end wrap. There will always be good/better/best installers and on the same spectrum, different budgets. Good luck.

Lots things I suppose. Depending on what you spot. Dirt, dust, air, alignment (if precut), razor (if custom cut), stretched film.

Off topic but for paint NERDS like us, yakking away on a forum about paint....

If one has ever seen how panels are -squeeged- out, especially a larger piece like a hood, it`s not for the Autopian eyes to see.

Slip solution/PPF and they -squeege away-

It`s hard on the eyes when you see a full hood, maybe 3 guys or more....squeeging away *hard* on the film so it get`s every contour, etc as it sets....
Ha, it`s like when one is washing/drying your own panels, you are very mindful on how much or how less pressure is on the hood.
