Last owner says deck stain on motorcycle fender

Just bought a motorcycle and got it for a smoking deal. The micro scratches and a few other things are killing my ocd. First off the front fender has deck stain on it. Does anyone know how to remove this stuff?

I`d first try to gently polish the area and see if it removes any of the stain. It may have literally `stained` the area and went `into` the clear and may not be able to be removed.

Try polishing first and see what results you get.

Keep us posted and hopefully some more will chime in on this!

it would probably be either water based or oil based stain..
Do you have any mineral spirits in a can?? Take a q-tip of it and carefully touch a part of the painted fender somewhere where it is not noticeable, and see if it reacts with the paint..
If not, I would try that on the deck stain, carefully, don`t go wild... Just a little bit to see how it works and reacts on the painted fender..
Do not do anything like this in the sun.. Cool panels always better..
    Good luck with this..

It`s an oil based or water based paint that some people like to use to paint their new wood deck, or their fence...

I personally hate the look and that now you`ve done it, you will always have to keep doing it because it will fade and look even worse..

Perhaps a clear, oil-based product that soaks into the wood without changing the color, and will allow the wood to eventually take a gray appearance, to me, is the way to take care of wood based things...

Gotta ask what make, model, and year of motorcycle AND what color? Was it custom-painted?
Those questions stem from how old the paint might be and what type of paint (lacquer, single stage, clear-coated poly or clear-coat ceramic if it was custom-painted). The color may just be an eye-thing, meaning a white might show the stain more, while a dark may "hide" that stain, even after you`ve polished it out.
I would NOT recommend wet sanding it unless you have some experience doing so. NOT that it cannot be done, but the risk of not knowing how thick the paint is without some Paint Thickness Gauge to verify that value COULD lead to burn-through if one is not careful wet sanding in a willy-nilly (IE. inexperienced) way. I do not think your motorcycle is a good vehicle to "experiment" on, BUT you know your detailing and body shop abilities better than I do and how the motorcycle paint looks to you.
