Removing overspray from textured bumper trim?

I did do some searching, but couldn`t find a decent answer to how to remove paint overspray from textured bumper trim. My wife didn`t know where it came from - she was sitting at a rush hour stop light on a very windy Oklahoma day (I went back there but could not find the source). Clay worked on the paint, but haven`t tried it on the trim (afraid of any after affects - and do want to maintain protection on one year old car). Any help appreciated.

One more quick question - Optimum Spray Wax or Griot`s 3 in 1 wax? Used Optimum for years and like it, but have to order it and Griot`s can be obtained locally.

Try mineral Spirits first and if that doesn`t work, try lacquer thinner. The latter may dull the plastic finish in which case Solution Finish will correct it. Hope you don`t have to resort to using Acetone.

Used OSW for years, but not Griot`s 3 in 1, so I can`t help you there.

Thanks for the reply. I used Goo Gone as a lubricant, Mothers Clay bar, a toothbrush and elbow grease. The clay did disintegrate, but I left it to soak for a short while before scrubbing. Did dull the finish somewhat so I really appreciate the Solution Finish (a new one on me) suggestion, I will give it try.

I`d try IPA first and then work my way up.

Griot`s for sure though. I like optiseal but it isn`t durable.

Does the Griot`s have any UV protection that`s been verified by an independent entity? That, and its being fresh-(re)paint-friendly, are why I use it instead of some alternatives.

I have used Eastwoods Pre Painting Prep with great success. Worked great at removing yellow paint that I drove over from the paint and black plastic trim on my 2005 Mini Cooper S

And for your second question - Optimum Spray Wax or Griot`s 3 in 1 wax? Both are great waxes! I do think the Griots will last a little longer but both will give a fantastic result.
