The only problem was when they talked about social marketing, i don`t think they are referring to discussion forums like this.

Unfortunately discussion forums are becoming less active.

Not a big fan of social media personally.

I haven’t watched the videos yet, but Mike Phillips is a big forum guy. First thing it seemed he did after he left AG was start his own forum.

Can’t seem to edit my post, so I’ll just add A I’m with you though - I also don’t care for social media.

I’m actually a big fan of social media. Lots of nice, intelligent people supporting engaging and diverse conversations. I learn a lot every day from social media.

Re: Mike Philips is working with 3D Car Care

The lack of topical and conversational organization combined with the inability to be referenced easily in the future via search engine all wrapped up in a nice wrapper of inhospitable keyboard warriors keeps me away from most social media platforms because they simply aren`t helpful or constructive. I rarely even look at comments on Instagram or Youtube either because interactions with the posters is almost impossible for anyone who isn`t a direct friend or family member and the comments can be pretty terrible.

I wish Mike and Yancy the best, but if they are going to the social media route, that`s a place I won`t follow unless it is the occasional video on YouTube.

Also very happy for Mike Phillips - go Mike !! Thank you for all the years of hard work and great feedback !

Watched that painful video.. Thank you, noorth for posting it..

This guy thinks he is the first to ever invent the process to make in-house compounds, etc...

Menzerna (since 1888), invented all of this first, and has been doing it for the auto industry for 100 years..

And none of the people sitting there asked him about this Menzerna company?

Social Media = probably ok in some applications, but fleeting..

A Lot of really great Detailers from here migrated over to Facebook years ago, and I guess they are all having a nice day every day, over there..

Perhaps where there are specific social media places; it might be and obviously, has been a place to go - as long as you know - the people on there to be able to trust what they say.. I think if I were to get Facebook and go find my way over there, it might be interesting to read their comments, and see how they are all doing..

But, I`m not going to now, and don`t really have the inclination or time to spend on this.

He was a little thick on making his own stuff. But i guess kudos to 3D because not many companies do make their own powders/compounds it seems. But i`m not an insider.

All i could think of was the absolute terrible time i had cleaning up ACA 520 about a week ago on my bonnet - worst clean up i have ever had in my limited machine polishing experience. Granted it was outside in the sun and 90% humidity, with about room temperature. Looks great though, it was after a more aggressive step.

Going forward i`m going to use N914 cut 8:1 to see if that can help me with removing compounds/polishes. Seems none of them work effortlessly in my environment every time. I have like 8 different compounds/polishes lol

    noorth -
    Tks for your reply,

I have never needed to try 3D anything..

Read up on their ACA-520 finishing polish - it is supposed to be "easy to use"..

I use only a few products and make them work themselves all the way to gone or almost gone, so I have less opportunity to introduce defects in the paint, wiping it off.. I make the pad do the work, and then the clean up.
All the work is done inside where I can control the sun and depending on where I live, the amount of heat in there..

Also, to work the product to almost nothing, requires me to keep it a little moist using a cheap C/Guys pad conditioner on the pad, so the work never dries out and causes the horrid "dusting".. Hate it... Just say NO to causing it..

Yeah i`ve been trying to use the pad more to clean up the residue and i do generally work my compounds longer then i used too. One thing i will say about 3D one and ACA 520 i have yet to see dust. Which can be even more of a pain, chasing it around. I would also like to mention it seems my car has "sticky" paint. With my fathers car and test panels i don`t have so many clean up issues. While i love machine polishing it is the one thing that i continue to struggle with.. I have really good low nap towels now as well that help a lot. And some days i don`t have a lot of issues with wipeoff. Its weather dependent for sure. I really don`t think in a garage setting i would have so many issues.

Driveway detailing is challenging. I just can`t see myself buying a canopy but you never know. My neighbors will think i`m totally gone insane then lol

I am keen to try mckee`s cut 8:1 for wipeoff or even using something like gyeon prep, which is expensive to use in that fashion. I even seen a nice tip on the UK forum about using a towel soaked in a rinseless solution, seems like another option.

    But I`m just rambling now...haha

Some people would say you`re not really an Autopian until your neighbors think you are insane.
