A towel I would not recommend are the IGL coating towels. They are not that good.

The pearl is ok. I tried them and I am glad I ended up using the one`s that I had without investing in anymore. They load up to fast with coating and they start smearing around coating.

Unfortunately you are asking the wrong guy about using a wax or sealant. I have not touched either in a long time. But they work well for coatings, polish removal, interior wipe downs. A nice multi-purpose towel.

Not to thread jack but figure this question doesn’t deserve it’s own thread.....

How many towels do you use For initial removal and secondary wipe Sizzle?

Others who have done lots of coatings would be interested to here the numbers.

I`m using some Ragg Co green edgeless low nap towels now. (I think they are Ragg Co) I have a ton of them, but always looking to try something else.

I`m using around 2 dozen + towels per coating job. Don`t keep track of how many for initial wipe/final wipe.

I wish The King of Coatings, BudgetPlan1, would comment on his choice of coating applicators and wipe-off microfiber clothes. I asked this very question in the classic, never-ending,life-of-its-own, epic tome, thread "I think I`m done messing around with coatings: final thoughts", but I could not find it.

I think some here have far surpassed my meddling with ceramics but nonetheless:

Any more, for applicators I use the Autofiber 3x5 Thin [Saver Applicator Terry] Microfiber Coating Applicator Sponge with Plastic Barrier. They really do seem to stretch out the coating and use less than I did w/ micro suedes and blocks.

Occasionally I`ll run across a coating that works better with a different set of towels, but I`m always starting with a Rag Company Eagle Edgeless 300gsm for initial leveling, followed by a Rag Company Eagle Edgeless 350gsm for the final cleanup. I go though more of the 300`s on a given vehicle as they remove the bulk of the residue; maybe 6-8 on an average vehicle and half as many 350`s it seems so 3 or 4 of those. Really sticky stuff like Kami ISM 2.0 might be 2 wipes w/ separate 300`s followed by a final wipe with a 350; sometimes the first wipe on stuff like that may be with a damp 300, followed by a dry 300, followed by a 350.

I`ve got so many non-paint towels at this point I just toss the coating towels in the garbage afterwards although sometimes tossing away the lavender 350`s is depressing cuz they`re such nice towels that I use for most other paint-things I do.

Edit: I tried some of the Pearl towels but didn`t much like `em.

I don`t toss them immediately. I get a few uses out of them. (I buy in bulk, have 200 or so on hand now)

2 dozen + would be for the initial wipe and final wipe.

    Appreciate everyone`s input!

And I didn’t just pickup 10 packs (on sale) based on your feedback. Should last me a couple years.
