The adjective descriptors I enjoy using to explain the type of look I’m seeing is usually one of the following, each means something to me:
Glassy: Probably the same as your ‘molten glass’ except I think my glassy is sharp where as I think of molten as what you’ve been posting... can be smooth, round edges, etc.).
Deep/Rich: great, often deep, color contrast. The color looks dramatic versus the back drop of normal colors around it, including other people’s vehicles of a similar color. Typically not sharp around edges. Edges may actually flow into each other making it unclear what is in versus out. Or edges may appear hidden from certain angles as it’s hard to tell the surface from the deep reflection.
Candy-Coated: Similar to ‘Rich’ except not deep reflections. Reflections sit on top. High shine content, sometimes sparkles in the sun. Edges typically look smooth/rounded to me, and reflections flow over them.
I have others but for simplicity I’ll stop there. Of course I regularly use two of the above descriptors together if my eyes see something inbetween. For instance I would probably say my version of ‘molten glass’ is ‘glassy with some candy-coat’. Hence why I differentiated Cancoat as being more candy coated to me than glassy or molten glass. I think Cancoat actually reduces the sharp glass look, but does add intensity to the color and makes rather smooth reflections. Like ‘molten glass’ but with less ‘glass’.
I’m done, don’t mind me.
