The glacier and the sucker look very similar. Maybe ordered from same vendor?

I bought a couple of the Gauntlet towels a couple months ago - - an exceptional drying towel. The best I`ve ever used.

I also got a couple of McKee`s Glacier 1100 around the same time. Very nice towel but sort of heavy/dense, IMO.

BUT what`s the idea/benefit behind those "less plush stripes"? I accept that I must be missing something, but the logic of it still eludes me

I could argue (just theoretically) why I would *not* expect them to be a Feature, but I just don`t see the flip-side and I`d really like somebody to school me.

Its about the plush stripes not the not plush which are standard twist/closed loops. The soft plush stripes are just the closed tips shaved off.
I remember first getting into MF. It was all about “the feel” and wanted the softest most plush towels i could find. As you prob know twist loop towels are imo best at drying but they dont feel soft. First time lying my hands on one i wanted nothing to do with it.
The soft stripes dont absorb as well as the closed loops but towel still works well. I feel the Gauntlet was created to give it that soft feel people are after.

Btw after a lot of comments on a 16x16 version Levi finally said in a podcast stay tuned something is “in the works” . What that means i dont know.

Thats why i like smaller sizes with these dual sided drying towels. The gauntlet is a little less GSM than the MM chipmunk. Really hope they do make a 16x16.
Love the Glacier towel, have 3 16x16’s.

jkeeper- AH, but get this...I don`t like the loops for my Drying Towels! Just me I guess, but I want the "sheared"/etc. type ones. I use the twisted loop ones for household stuff, but they`re not my preference for drying the vehicles.

The soft plush stripes are just the closed tips shaved off...The soft stripes dont absorb as well as the closed loops but towel still works well.
With the soft stripes cut short, it sounds like they`re the *type* I like, just not long like my current ones. Eh, I still think that "dual level" stuff is BS, but that`s just my take on `em.

I`m so utterly satisfied with my Dry Me Crazy ones that it`d take something pretty game-changing to get me to switch, but hey you never know..I hadn`t known I`d love the DMC ones either until I tried them.

I am in the market for a drying towel but I think I will wait for the "something in the works" towel. I hope it will not be too long of a wait.

I have 2 of the MM Chipmunk towels in 16x16, Nice towel. The Rag company has better border and might be a tad more manageable being less GSM.
I saw a similar design on one of the China sites but was only one sided. I have a couple one sided twist loop towels that i use on jams, behind the spare and side rails on the jeep.

Re: Anyone Tried The Rag Company`s New "The Gauntlet" Microfiber Drying Towel??

I keep forgetting that for Griot`s Garage`s PFM Terry Weave Drying Towel, the PFM means Pure Frickin` Magic and really has nothing to do with the microfiber, other than the descriptive phrase of how "good" it is.
I think it REALLY means "Pricey For a Microfiber".... but I digress. And yes, I do own and use the 16 x 16 size for drying and they are "PFM" as advertised.

Thanks for all the posts about drying towels and specifically "The Gauntlet" from TRC..It is how we all learn about such products and make "informed" detailing equipment purchasing decisions. J
