I’m case anyone was following along, here is an update.
Last night my new Griots G9 arrived. While polishing along the Edge of the roof I decided to try the roof rail very lightly. Machine on 3, BOSS yellow perfecting pad with BOSS perfecting cream and holding most of the machine weight off the rail. I made a few quick passes in a section and wiped off then used Gyeon prep and here are the results:

The first picture shows the polished section in the middle. The far edges of the photo are not polished yet. Pictures are not very good because my overhead lights are causing too much glare but it looks much deeper black now.
