Product for maintaining polished aluminum wheels?

I have some megs aluminum polish and some autosol.

The wheels in question are expensive three piece forged wheels that have a LIP that is polished aluminum and I’ve noticed some spots already on this polished area that I’d like a product that will keep this from happening.

    Thanks guys.

Back in the day when I had wheels with a polished aluminum lip, I used a product called Simichrome Polish. I`m sure there are dozens of other products available these days so see what other suggestions people chime in with.

    Wow - beautiful wheels !!
Are you positive they are not clear coated ?

If they are only polished aluminum, then several products for this are out there..
I remember Simichrome from the 70`s !!! It worked great, turned your applicator black, and your hands if your were not careful.. Durability on any of these products is not for long..

I have had great success with this on most highly polished wheels -- https://www.autopia-carcare.com/weno...l#.XS_m0vKpH3g
Wenol also makes a - Red - version for wheels, etc., that need more work to get them good again.. Autopia also carries the Red tube at the Store..

Once I had an old set of BBS polished aluminum wheels on my Daughter`s vehicle, and the only thing that worked on them was a high speed air die grinder, several pointed felt cones, and polishing compound sticks from Eastwood.. They always looked amazing, but polishing in this manner requires a mask or better, a respirator, so you don`t inhale all that stuff flying around..

It will always be easier if they are clear coated though...
    Good luck with this !

Nope. No clear. The centres are brushed and powder coated. The lips are exposed.

Beautiful car to match the wheels !
I would try the Autosol - will probably do the trick.. You already have it..
And it turns your hands black - what`s not to love ???

I already coated them with Donald ceramic and haven’t driven the car since.

The maintenance isn’t an issue. This car probably won’t see 5k a year. I just don’t want anything that will cause more damage then good.

The autosol would mar the finish

Striker- My wife ran BBS (summer) wheels like those on her S4. Between the polished lips and the fasteners they`re, uhm...something...huh?

The various [Metal Products in Tubes] that I`ve used never provided any kind of durable protection, needed redone all the time. And you`re smart to watch *which of those* you try once things are nicely polished (many are a bit too aggressive).

I`m surprised you`re getting the issues despite your coating! That`s what I would`ve suggested, some kind of coating like the 22ple VM1 that I bought for...I dunno what, it`s just sitting here because I don`t want to bother with it on the only wheels that could use it Heh heh, I feel kinda silly about that given that you`re dealing with *those* wheels, and the ones I dread doing have gotta be easier!

I may have just done the barrels and the face with the sonax coating. Not the lips.

I just want the corrosion corrected and then I will apply a synthetic sealant. I just don’t know what to use to rid of the minor oxidization.

I`d try the mildest of my English brand Metal Polishes, the stuff that`s basically too mild to do any real work. Eh, easy for me to say with the stuff already on my shelf.

Wonder if something as mild as KAIO would work? Or some other AIO...I`d worry that most Metal Polishes would be more aggressive than you need.

The only product I know of that is marketed as actual protection for metal or aluminum is dr Beasley’s metal coat. I have no personal experience with the product though.
