Ready to coat: advice needed

Hello.

I have prepped my car (which had Adams ceramic on it) and am getting ready to coat with gtechniqe CSL followed by Evo top coat. Need some advice on something though.

The top of my car has factory satin hood and also some satin wrap. This was coated with Adams 2 years ago. The coating seems to be somewhat still there. I have also just added new wrap to back and front bumpers. This has no coating on it.

Since I cant buff off the old Adams here was my plan of action:

1. CSL with EVO top coat on new wrap and sides.
2. Evo the satin surfaces with Adams on it/

Does this sound like a good course of action? or would you CSL and EVO over the Adams?

I’ve used Griot’s perfecting cream on a black finishing pad to polish those with no issues. Then wipe with whatever prep you’re using. The consumer coatings aren’t that hard to remove.

I would not polish a satin or matte vinyl. You will lose the appearance of it.

For the areas that are already coated just prep wipe it and apply the coating or coatings.

Same for the new areas that are wrapped.

GTechniq and CarPro now make a dedicated coating for PPF and wraps.

I’ve never had a problem with changing the appearance of those stripes, I honestly think the coatings for PPF and stripes is all hype. Never had a problem with Gyeon, c Quartz, Kamikaze or Modesta.

I am not saying that a regular coating won`t work. The op has already used the Adams coating on it and had no issues. I am just saying the option for a dedicated graphics and vinyl coating is there regardless if one think it is hype or not. GTechniq used to recommend their C1 coating on vinyl before they introduced Halo.

One thing is certain at least for CarPro Skin is that is can be stripped chemically (CarPro will get that information to the individual if they have ordered the product) compared to abrading the surface and risk changing the appearance.

If you have not issues that is a good thing. I for one won`t be polishing a matte or satin surface. Those surfaces are already a bit finicky to work with.

Not talking all matte surfaces, just vinyl. Kevin Brown did a nice video about it.
