Ok, I goofed up a panel and hood...

Ok, I probably did not either wait long enough between coating layers and/or used too little product, resulting in some unevenness in a panel and hood. The hood does have PPF on it so I need to be super careful about re-polishing that area. Since my car had such good care I only needed/preferred GG Perfecting cream before coating.

So, I`m going to re polish those areas but would I need a more aggressive polish to remove that 4 day old coating?
    Suggestions?

Test spot it with what you used to polish the car. Should be more than enough to remove the coating.

I agree, test spot. See if you have any high spots and hit them first. A mild abrasive should cut right through since the coating has not completely cured and probably even if it was completely cured depending on the coating.

After you get it off and go to Re coat make sure your applicator is wetting the surface evenly and cross hatch your strokes. On a hood the size of your Q5 divide it into 4 sections. And re wet applicator for each section.

Just my advice based on my own experience.

You’ll find that on PPF coatings tend to flas faster. That could’ve been some of the issue also. The Griot’s perfecting cream is all you’ll need.

Thanks all. It happens to be an Allroad, but point taken. I will be way more careful this time around.

I just removed 2 week old CQUK3.0 and literally removed by hand with CP Essence and a MF pad by hand with light pressure. Cleaned full panel with boss 15 and boss yellow perfecting pads. Not much aggression to remove at-all.

Can you share with us how you came to the conclusion the coating was removed?

When I did it by hand it was to see if I could remove high spot. It did. Then I machine polished spot area and you could see out lined where I polished. Also sprayed with N-914 afterwards and although beaded up, was not tight and uniformed where polished

You can see in pick out line of spot I polished. This was after hand polish. Don’t know if it removed all layers but definetly removed some

Ace, thanks for the supporting shot.

2 weeks of UK 3.0 you say? Goes to show that true curing takes a month.

I don’t know why 2 weeks came to mind:

I posted this on 14th of May. Finished actually the 10th. It’s been well over a month. Initial app was 3 coats uk3 and 1 coat Cancoat.

Yes I was saying my mistake. Don’t know why “I” said two weeks. Sorry for confusion
