How would you clean these wheels before coating?

I have a set of summer wheels that are a few months old, very open pattern, no marks on them. They are in my finished walk out basement waiting for mid spring. Issue is I can’t get them out of the basement until the snow is gone and I want to coat them, but....

They have a faint hint of brake dust on them,

How do I clean them before coating using something that will only drip a very small amount? What product and what applicator?

Use a rinseless wash that doesn`t leave anything behind and then do an IPA wipedown.

I would clay them as well to remove any embedded contaminants, especially on the inside of the wheels.

Bathtub. Heck I cleaned a set of wheels and tires in my shower once. Works well. Just make sure to clean up after!

How about a good newspaper base, clingy/gel wheel cleaner and soft disposable rags.
But I really like the bathtub/shower idea. Sheer brilliance.
