I also use my Stihl 600 magnum backpackblower. It works great on paint with protection. I use a towel to get any remaining spots.

On clients cars that have no protection I still use the blower to get the mirrors, wheels and some of the heavy standing water on the paint but then use a twisted loop towel like the twistress, PFM, etc.

I haven’t used my CR Spotless in years. Too involved and too much of a hassle when I can quickly wipe down the car and be done with it
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

If using a drying aid, I use a Platinum Pluffle. If no drying aid, then a PFM and/or Gyeon Silk Dryer. Only time I get out the air compressor hose is prior to polishing or coating application cuz water in those situations just kinda ruins the afternoon.

Used a dedicated air dryer for the first time a few weeks ago, will be going in that direction come next Spring. Easier, safer and more complete job...no runs, no drips, no errors.

Re: How do you Dry your car ?

Regarding the CRS, I still have to deal with the water. I sometimes do a *LOT* of deionized-water rinsing, but I never seem to get all the regular water displaced...eh, guess my vehicles simply retain a lot of water and whether deionized or not, it usually makes for a mess of some kind unless I dry it all up thoroughly before driving it. Maybe not waterspots (my softened water isn`t all that bad in that regard anyhow), but some kind of mess from the water running all over the vehicle. Even a little dust can look bad when water`s run through it.

EDIT: But if I`m just doing a rinse-only pseudowash, I do finish up with the CRS and just blow it dry as best I can. Doesn`t come out perfect, but during bad weather it`s good enough for me; "Life is not a car show" and all that.

Leaf blower followed by a drying aid, usually OCW. Otherwise single PFM.

The OCW is working so well on my wife`s A8 that I`ve just kept using it as that car`s usual Drying Aid. I had originally planned to just use it while the most recent paintwork was curing, but it`s *so* quick and easy, and it does look good.

While I do have a MasterBlaster and use it most of the time even when I do use it I usually come back with a touch up towel later. (Platinum Pluffle)

I have a large amount of drying towels and cycle through them depending on what I am doing or my mood.

    • RagCo Platinum Pluffle
    • Gyeon Silk Dryer
    • Griots Garage PFM
    • Mothers Ultra Soft Drying Towel
    • Old CarProUS - Standard Waffle Weave
    • Old AutoGeek - Standard Blue Waffle Weave w/ Silk Edges

Let us (me) know if you do get one. I`ve got DeWalt cordless tools now and have been thinking about one that I can use my batteries with.

I use this Kobalt jobsite blower. It`s very similar to the new flex that is coming out, but much more affordable

Re: How do you Dry your car ?

Leaf blower then one my many drying towels (various waffle weave, pluffle, PFM, Big Blue, Cobra) with a waterless wash drying aid or D156 or OCW. I used to use ryobi 18 volt cordless blower but its to weak for whole car ok for wheels and grill, now I use Worx Turbine 12 Amp Corded Leaf Blower WG520 this thing is a beast my forearms are sore after it push back so hard, also it has variable speed so you can adjust as needed for delicate areas.
