Gtechniq, more than a little confused

I`ve been looking at Gtechniqs coating offerings and am baffled by the shear amount of coating offerings. I was think of purchasing their newest coating Crystal Serum Light that they claim will last 3 to 5 years and has 80 percent of their pro coating that has to be sanded off to be removed. They have other coatings, for my taste too many. I would prefer manufacturers stick to about 3 coatings, budget/entry, mid grade/consumer, and pro. Gtechniqs may have lost my dollars by offering way too many choices. IMHO, they do not do good enough of a job delineating the differences between their coatings. PolishAngel does a good job of breaking their coatings down where I can understand their differences. What do you Autopians think about Gtechniqs and their products? I would like to know a little more before I toss them my dollars.

Re: Gtechniq, more than a little confused

I am a big fan of both companies, and they each have products to fit my specific needs by car and use.

Polish Angel Viking coat over Escalate look just amazing. It looks like a wax but wears longer.

EXO by GTECH is the most hydrophobic I have found to date. I get 18-22 months of good protection and more but the beading drops off after that.

Both easy enough to apply. GTECH is cheaper than most (EXO that is)

Tried g tech didn`t last? I also don`t like the fact that if I give them money I can be certified? Gyeon has 2 consumer and 2 pro coatings, Kamakaze has 2 consumer coatings and will have a pro only soon.

Mike, which Gtechniqs product did you try that did not last? I`m wondering about the Serum Chrystal Light and if anyone has given it a try. I realize it is a new product. But before a toss them a few dollars I would like to see a few reviews about ease of application.

C1 and exo, but that was 3 years ago. I honestly have no interest in trying them again after finding Gyeon and Kamakaze

Re: Gtechniq, more than a little confused

They only have 3 coatings that I know of (in terms of paint protection). C1, Exo and crystal serum. Are there some that I`m missing? Lile other companies, they offer a wheel coating, glass coating and trim coating as well.

I`ve used Exo and really like it. Still waiting on durability (only been a few months) but it`s really slick and beads great. Application was very easy as well. Just apply and immediately buff the high spots. No waiting

Re: Gtechniq, more than a little confused

Gtechniqs has one called C2v3 Liquid Crystal. Looking again I guess they only have 3 consumer coatings, the C1 Crystal Lacquer is said to be a sealant. I just don`t see much delineation between their coatings. Buy the one that costs the most to get the best protection? Lol. I wanted to see if many folks in Autopialand had much experience with Gtechniqs. From the answers it looks like a brand that is not at the top of many lists. It confuses me when Crystal is used in most of their product names.

C2V3 is a really nice product, similar to reload.

As a side note, the C2V3 states to wear eye protection in the directions. Im not sure if ive ever seen that in a spray sealant, but it makes me wonder what the heck is in the bottle!

Re: Gtechniq, more than a little confused

I had the pleasure of talking with a Gtechniq rep at Mobile Tech Expo and his enthusiasm for the products really won me over, even after drilling him with difficult questions; he nailed all of the answers. Ever since that conversation, I`ve been staring at a bottle of Crystal Serum Light on my desk and looking forward to the next opportunity that I`ll get to use it. I say go for it. One of the shiniest finishes I`ve ever seen was after using GTechniq EXO. I remember walking into the AG Garage and the paint looked absolutely amazing.

I`ve tried C1 on my old motorcycle for a couple of weeks and the protection was amazing. I remember taking a long ride across the state with a few motorcycle friends and guess which bike was the only one NOT covered in bug guts? It was great.

Pictures don`t do that car justice. I remember asking the owner and i think it was HOK Kandy Apple red with a gold flake base coat? So in direct sunlight you would barely notice gold flakes. In person it looked awesome with the GTechniq stuff on it.

Re: Gtechniq, more than a little confused

C2v3 is a spray sealant much like reload. Not technically a coating. It`s made as a topper to C1 I believe. I agree that the way they name their products can be a little confusing with the letters and numbers. I wouldn`t say they have anymore coatings than the next guy. They have their consumer ones in C1 and EXO (crystal serum light seems to be a new one), and their professional only one in the crystal serum.

On on another note, I really want to try the crystal serum. I found a video where they intentionally left a high spot and let it cure. They went from a fine polish, to a compound, to 3000 grit paper and nothing removed it. I believe they did finally smooth it out with either 2000 or 1500 grit paper. I can see why they claim 7 years of life from that coating! Crazy stuff

Hey guys I am the Gtechniq rep here in the states. If there are any questions about our coatings I would be happy to talk. We have a fantastic line up and I dare everyone to compare head to head vs what they use now. Pm me or shout me out on this thread. Thanks
