    Polish prep for csl/exo

Ok so it seems that essence might not play well with csl/exo.

If I need a solid polish to prep paint before csl/exo, what are some recommendations? Thanks!

Polish with what you have and then use GTechniq Panel Wipe before applying CLS/EXO.

HD cut, HD polish, zaino fusion, and essence. I don`t mind purchasing something awesome.

HD cut > HD polish > Panel wipe > CLS > EXO

Are you saying both products dried and was difficult to remove? If so how there could be a whole host of reasons such as how many passes did you make? How warm was the ambient air temperature? Where you in direct sun light? How often did you change pads? What speed setting did you use... Etc.

If you want to try a new compound/ polish take a look at Jescar’s product line. I was super impressed by it and used it prior to coating my own DD with CLS/EXO.

I always found polish and cut to be super easy to work with and wipe away. Had a really long work time, seems like you’d have to work it a loooong time to make it hard to wipe away.

HD products have always been very user friendly in my experience. I think looking at your process some people on here could help resolve the issue. Cut is actually designed for rotary use so with a DA as someone mentioned you should have a nice long work time and HD products are known for their ease of removal. Don`t get me wrong just because Cut was designed for a rotary it works fine with a DA.

I personally have not had success with HD Polish. I ended up giving it away.

If you are looking for alternative polishes, I have had success with Sonax polishes (EX 04-06, Perfect Finish and Cut & Finish). All of the sonax polishes that I have used do not dust. Griot`s perfecting Cream is a nice finishing polish.

I was in the shade using a PC random orbital. a few passes. Let dry, 80-85 degrees. speed setting 2-3 I think. Both cut and polish sucked to buff off. Maybe I was using too much product but I had to really rub and rub to get product off. I think some parts I ended up rinsing with water to get off.

You don’t have to let a compound or polish dry before removal. Immediately removed both once you’ve finished a section pass. It’s not a traditional wax that needs time to cure first.

Like ^ ^ he said. And you can up the speed on the da also. 4-5 would break down the compound and polish and wipe of directly. And 4-5 passes so you see the products clear up.

I didn`t really have any issues when I did the wifes GLE with Essence followed by CSL/EXO. I was a bit surprised at how fast you have to remove both of those coating though. Almost instantly or you get streaking and high spots, where as when I used Gloss coat I let it flash for a few minutes before wiping away.

Why are you thinking essence won`t work?

There are quite a few good polishes and compounds out there. Would pick one you like and then use Panel wipe a couple times after to be sure you get any left over stuff.
