Suggestions for Matte-Finish Tire Shine Products for Show Vehicles

I am asking my fellow Autopians for product suggestions for matte-finish tire shine for show vehicles.
I "strongly dislike" tire shine products that look plastic-y or shine "brighter" that than the car.

My old favorite was Black Magic Matte-finish tire shine, but it is no longer available. I am looking for something that has that "natural look" of new rubber, but still has a dressing appearance and not the-just-been-cleaned look by itself, which can be chalky whitish-grey on rubber. I have used Aerospace 303 Protectant and it does look "matte", but it doesn`t last long.

I think Bold-n-Brite might fit the bill. First coat isn`t glossy, just black, if you like shine then add another coat. Just my .2 cents. I prefer the liquid to the gel, from what I read others lean towards the gel. I wipe mine down after the application, I too, don`t like a glossy tire. Either way sling isn`t an issue.

    What Gearhead said.

Wipe on, wait a couple of min, wipe off/dry.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

I`m currently using Griot`s long lasting, however if it`s just for show go with the vinyl and rubber.

Another vote for Bold `N Bright. I just used the gel for the first time recently and I`m very happy with the results!

bold n bright GEL leaves more of a matte "sheen" appearance than the liquid.. if you wipe the residue off after you apply it might be right what you are looking for IMO

    here`s a review from a hack

Bold n bright gel vs regular- a quick review

DG 253.531,321 with 253 being the most durable.

I absolutely love the 253 ! Tried a lot of Tire Shine products but always come back to the 253. Love the look on tires and other plastic trim. I buy it by the gallon.

Noting that I too like a matte/maybe satin/low-gloss tire slime...I just started using up an old gallon of that and am reminded/impressed by how nice it looks.

On other vehicles I`m using up some *really* old (`90s) Pinnacle, and gee..it looks great to me.

Neither of those last through a (regular) wash, but by the time I wash I gotta really scrub to get the brakedust/etc. off anyhow so I expect to redress `em.

Re: Suggestions for Matte-Finish Tire Shine Products for Show Vehicles

You want this for show vehicles AND long lasting? I don`t show cars, but would expect the look you want would be far more important that durability. Can you clarify?

I`ve tried several products and don`t like any shine on my tires - I want a natural "new" tire look. I keep coming back to DG 253. I haven`t tried DG 321 so can`t compare the two. 253 gives a very natural look for me. You can get a little shine in you buff it slightly. It lasts several weeks for me in dry weather. Less in constant rain, but nothing else does either.

My experience with 253: don`t overapply it. If you do, be sure to wipe it off. If you leave wet product on your tires it can look blotchy. I apply with a tire sponge evenly then wipe off. Then just clean with a brush as needed. On neglected tires it may take two applications to get them looking good and even.

To my eye Bold and Bright has that new tire look, with a hint of matte shine. I have only used the gel and think it`s an awesome product. Lasts a long time on Garage queens too.

Yup, you are correct: It would seem oxymoronic to ask for the best of both world`s on my part; matte-finish AND long-lasting durability from a tire shine on a "show car". My main priority is, indeed, the look of a matte-finish on a tire more than durability. That`s one of the reasons I currently use Aerospace (now Gold Eagle) 303 Protectant because that is what I have in my arsenal of car-care chemicals, BUT it doesn`t have the durability that may be more desirable/needed by detailing hobbyist, hence this request for suggestions of other/better tire shine products.

Thanks to my Autopia Forum family who has posted a response and suggestion. I am sure there are other vehicle detailing hobbyists, like myself, who may be looking for matte-finish tire shine product suggestions and now have some intelligent choices.

I would suggest Tuff Shine tire coating. As long as prepped it has really good longevity. One coat is fairly matte to start with and if more the gloss doesn`t stay very long. It makes them very easy to clean with just car soap as long as you like the look.
