    Convertible Mini

Since this is my first convertible to detail, I am wondering if I should do the top first with dressing, or should I do the top last?

    Re: Convertible Mini

I always washed the car with the top up, just like a normal car. The next to last thing I would do was put the protection on the convertible top. Be careful of overspray on the glass and paint. Actually it`s better to clean the glass after applying the coating on the top.

I guess I didn`t word my question correctly. Do I clean and protect the top first before I proceed down to the paint? My concern is I might make myself extra work if I clean and protect the top and then cover the top with large sheets to prevent splatter and other debris. Or should I just clean everything at one time and then mask off the painted part of the vehicle to prevent overspray from the top protectant?

    Re: Convertible Mini

I may have explained it wrong. First wash everything. I used 303 Fabric Cleaner on the top (I think the Mini`s top is fabric). Then I washed the rest of the car. I then polished and protected the paint and wheels. By the time I was finished the top would be dry enough to apply 303 Fabric Protection to the top. Normally I would clean the glass before protecting the top, but it would usually come back to bite me as there is some overspray from the 303 FP. I finally started to brush on the 303 FP and that cut way down on any 303 FP on glass. I think that explains it better.
