Nano Coatings

I want to get some "nano coatings" to try but when i read about them people are saying they are certified installers. how do you become a cert installer or if you dont have to where can you buy these products

Most surface coatings are available to anyone. We`ve got all the ones we carry on Autopia listed here: Surface Coatings for Car Paint, Trim, Glass & Wheels

There are also professional grade coatings that are sold directly from the coating manufacturers to certified installers.

Contact the coating manufacturers directly for more information on becoming certified. But the retail versions of the professional coatings are very similar and usually much easier to apply. Most members who have a coating on here I`m guessing have a retail version coating on their vehicle.

Im a big fan of Optimum Gloss Coat. That product sets the standard, imo.

Depends if you have a garage to do it in, how hot it is, how patient you are, how long you want it to last, do you want to top it at all, do you want ease of use (of coarse right), are you sensitive to solvent smells.

i dont have a garage to do it in but i can get a 4 sided tent thing i guess its an enclosure i think i will buy both referred from earlier

A garage isnt necessary, just some products need to sit for a bit before being wiped off. So that might be a concern.

Pinnacle Black Label coating is one of the easiest coating products to apply. If you are a beginner I would suggest this. No garage required. Cool paint is recommended.

Just an FYI, I applied this coating last night. It`s basically as easy as applying a sealant like Powerlock or BFWD.

I started just in small sections, but once I started rolling - I applied it to a whole half the car and it wiped off easily no problems. Applied it heavy , applied it twice - no issues.

I don`t know how long it will last or if it`s really a coating. But it`s not just a sealant, because it reeks of IPA.

But as for ease of use, I can`t imagine anyone screwing this up.

The caveat is, you have to use the Pinnacle Prep Polish (or so they say). This could be a drawback if your doing a correction - because it`s a whole separate polishing step - opposed to just doing an IPA or Eraser wipe down, at least per the instructions.

I found Gloss Coat to be far easier to apply. Takes a couple. Inutes longer to haze, which allows you to work in bigger sections and it was an easier wipe off.

Curious to hear how long it lasts for you. I have it on my mom`s car and it`s doing very well after 1 year. I`ve used the coating booster like 3-4 times with it and just did a decon wash on it to remove some of the contaminants that have settled on the paint throughout the year.

I have read over on Autogeek that I believe forum member GSKR has stated that Mike Phillips has used the wolfgang or blackfire prep spray during the Thursday night detailing classes. But like you I used the prep polish with PBL V2.

Gloss Coat is good stuff. Been happy with it`s performance for the initial 6 months on my dad`s car.
