    Lint from MF Towels

Been grappling with getting the interior of the windshield perfect. Settled in on the two cloth method, first one dampened with Stoner`s, second wipe off excess. Using MF towels, however left me with lint on the glass. Thinking I had some cheap MFs, I bought some Cobra, but still get the same problem. BTW, these are not waffle weave. In fact not only lint but there is something left behind that is microscopic but in direct sunlight looks like dots of light. Sorry no foto. These wipe right off with a cotton towel, however.

What the heck are these? And if the MF towels leave behind small lint-like deposits on the glass, aren`t they also leaving microscopic things on my paint that I can`t see.

I guess my next step is to order some WW MFs for my glass, though these ribbed ones from Towel Pros look pretty good, and cheap, or these from the rag company. Any experience with these, or are the WW just as good?

    Re: Lint from MF Towels

I personally use the Quickie All Purpose Microfiber Towels for my glass cleaning and up to date have not had any issues with them. You get like 24 in a pack for a very good price. I ordered additional ones after being satisfied with the first batch so that i could use them for dirty work as well (wheels, door jambs etc.) and have extra in hand.

Only time i`ve experienced lint in my MF towels was when i made the mistake of washing them with some terry cloth towels and/or hung dry them instead of tossing them in the machine dryer(with the low heat setting).

The only towels I use on the glass, are these towels: Waffle Weave Microfiber Glass Towel

Get at least 3 or 6 of them. Wipe once, and fold to a new side. Wipe again. Then switch to a new side again. Only use one side of this MF towel since the oil or film it picks up will be transferred to the other side of the towel. Switch towels as needed and DO NOT overuse a single towel with a single swipe. If you use a contaminated side again, you`ll just end up smearing the oil on the glass again.

Then switch to a clean glass towel for a final buff. I`ve never had any linting problems with this towel on glass.

    Re: Lint from MF Towels

PM me your address I`ll mail you two of the Towel Pros to try. I split a 25 pack with my MIL for my wife.
Actually got 26 so 14 for me.
Including 10 Robert from towel pros threw in an order for me to try leading to buying more.

After i do my windows I rinse both towels out and good to go for the next time you do the windows . After a few uses I wash them.
Make sure to use the towels as Robert suggests and you`ll have perfect windows.

Just as a suggestion, try putting the towel back in the dryer and fluff them for about 10 minutes. The lint trap filter will filter out the lint from the towels and your good to go....

I find that only waffle weaves don`t lint on glass. Glass is pretty grabby and the fibers on plush towels shed from the friction. Waffle weave towels have no piles so no fibers to shed.

+1 on towel pros. Green glass towels work really well, and the WW has perfect balance of absorbancy and ability to glide over paint.

Even without the nap, mine still eventually lint. Yeah, WW Glass towels always washed/dried separately from othe stuff.

My "woven"/zero-nap ones even leave a *tiny* bit of lint behind once they`re worn enough, but it`s generally not enough to see with the naked eye.

Sooner or later, IME *EVERY* MF towel lints to some extent.

    Re: Lint from MF Towels

So one of the things that prompted me to start this thread was the thought that in removing my LSP with a MF, I `m leaving a small amount of lint, or something, on the paint. Even using a QD, there would be something deposited by the MF. Now it`s not showing up for me on my light colored cars, but I would think with the obsession around here with a perfect looking finish, that SOMEONE would have noticed this, especially on a black car. I mean, I see it on my glass using a non-WW MF, so it`s gotta be on the paint. Obviously once washed any trace of this would be removed.

valleyguy1- I`ve only noticed it on my lighter colored vehicles when I used MFs that *really* lint, and FWIW some of those same towels aren`t causing lint issues for a fellow Autopian (who`d initially told me about them). I`m keeping an eye on how my Dry Me Crazy towels behave in this regard, so far so good.

Yea the Eagles can lint if the surface is grabby like glass. Trade off for how fluffy it is.
