Re: Anyone wear a detailing apron while detailing?

I wear a microfiber apron to protect the paint and my clothes.

I don`t use the ones that are not microfiber.
The one I wear is the Microfiber Detailing Apron.

The Poorboy`s World Detailing Apron is also microfiber.

Yeah no apron for me. Just stick to athletic shorts and a white Hanes tshirt for easy cleanup. All soft cotton so nothing to scratch

I don`t always wear an apron, but when I do, I wear the rockler Cross-back Shop apron.

Interesting, I polished my car yesterday and did not use my apron. I guess I was not in the mood.

That`s what I wear (well, shorts during summer), but I never allow my clothes to touch the paint. I`ve learned first-hand that the softest cotton t-shirt can mar even hard Audi clear if there`s enough pressure on it, so rather than risk that I simply avoid the contact.

I think the hair would scratch your paint too haha. As for the hand wash/wax application, don`t those calluses scratch also?

No apron for me but I have thought about it and then forget when I place an order. I`m with the gym shorts and plain soft t-shirt guys and do my best still to not rub up against the car.

If I`m in an air conditioned shop I`ll use an apron and find it helps a bit, especially for storing my compound/polish.

In my garage I wear gym shorts & a plain soft cotton shirt, if I can`t reach across the hood or roof I`ll use a work platform so that I don`t accidentally touch the paint.

I have two meg`s aprons that i got as gifts with purchase. The material is soft and the pockets are deep, but its not very breathable. I do need to get those DriFit sleeves that restaurant servers wear to cover their tattoos, because the humidity makes sweat roll down every appendage and eventually on to the area I am working on.

Works platforms are great, I use mine even when they`re not absolutely necessary. They make it a lot easier to access/see the roof and even the hood too...dunno how people can even inspect the roofs of tall vehicles without them.

It`s solid, light, folds up small and it works for me.

Trucks etc. I line up two end-to-end and walk `em.

I`ve picked up a couple of these same modes when Lowes or Home Depot has them on sale. Around Christmas time these are available for about $25 though I got one for $19 on Black Friday.

Yeah, I used a total of five when I had the DenaliXL, but only need to get out four when doing the Tahoe. One on each side usually covers it for sedans.

    I have these: Bauer 20900 Fold-N-Carry Work Platform - Ladders - Amazon.com

(those have been unavailable through Amazon for ages, I got mine, a mix of Bauers and Werners that are basically identical, from the local distrubuters.)

The things I like about these particular platforms are the size and the friction-media-coated top surface; they don`t get slippery when wet with shampoo mix.
