    Coatings on painted pinstripes?

Im getting my truck pinstriped and was wondering if I should wait to top it with a coating. Meaning, longer then the day or two I was thinking? Its chilly out here now, but does it need to "cure" like auto paint for 30 days ?

I wouldn`t think you would have to wait, but I would ask the guy that painted the stripes to be on the safe side.

    Re: Coatings on painted pinstripes?

Is it getting real painted pinstripes or the ones that come in a roll and are just stuck on ?

If its real hand painted or airbrushed pinstripes, it would need to dry and cure to get the maximum benefit from any coating..

If its stuck on pinstripes, then clean it along with the rest of the paintwork and apply your product when ever you are ready..
    Good luck !

If it`s hand striping with a brush I would probably wait a little longer or just test to make as small area to make sure the solvents in the coating don`t effect it. From my experience that type of paint even when cured is not as durable as the finish on the car.

I think it`s always a fair question to the `installer` (body shop/paint guy) whenever paint work is done `do I need to wait before washing/waxing/sealing/coating and if so, how long`.
I also think it`s always better to wait rather than rush any possible curing process.

I would think paint is paint and treat it as paint. Better to wait than hose it up. I had a door repaired in the spring. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to wait all summer to work on the darn thing!

Definitely test the coating on a small area first given the solvent content on some coatings. I believe they use enamel paint for those hand painted stripes and simply hand rubbing with a compound can remove them with some effort, and should be avoided with a polisher.

What year/make truck is this on? You don`t see pinstriping very much these days.
