I have a blue 2006 car and after washing it noticed many tiny rust spots/specs on the paint, mainly on the doors. Can anyone recommend a way to get them off?

There are also some that are right under the edge of the rubber trim going across the bottom of the door windows. I tried using a wet toothpick to try and rub at them as there is no way to get my finger at them but they weren`t coming off. How could I get at these?

HD Nano Prep - Clay Bar replacement - this or regular clay will or should remove them easy.

Be cognizant that detailers clay or a surface prep towel will only remove surface contaminants, sintered brake dust permeates the clear coat facilitating a conduit to the paint system matrix, allowing moisture / corrosion to penetrate. This should be removed with a sub-surface decontamination system

    Decontamination

Although present on all paint surfaces, sintered brake / rail dust is most noticeable on light colored paint surfaces, especially white

    Stages of Corrosive Paint Damage

Stage I- Iron particulates causing surface staining leading to substrate corrosion

Stage II - Contaminants have permeated the paint matrix causing discoloration and corrosion damage

Stage III - Particulates and corrosive compounds causing severe damage to the paints resin (binder) system

    Signs of Paint Surface Contamination-

    • Dark coloured specks

    • Brown or Orange (rust) coloured stains or specks

    • Yellow stains

    • Small metal coloured flecks

    • Rough texture

    • ‘Water spots’ or marks

    • Surface etching

    • Oxidation

    • Paint ‘stains’

Schedule: annually, dependent upon environmental conditions and vehicle exposure but more often on light coloured paint.

To optimize the reflective properties and appearance of the paint surface, it is best to regularly remove both imbedded and surface contaminants and road dirt and oils.

CarPro Iron X (liquid or gel) is a one-step, highly effective car paint decontamination that can be used on car paint, wheels and glass cleaner (safe for all wheels including painted aluminium and alloys) beyond what can be removed by washing or by using detailer’s clay, Used for the removal of sintered (heat fused) metal particulates, this product has the cleaning power of sulphuric acid but with a pH of 7.0 by using a neutralised acid salt.

Neutralization is the reaction between an acid and a base (alkaline) producing a salt and neutralized base. Common examples include acetic acid and sulphuric acid, when mixed with water cause an exothermic chemical reaction, which loosens the sintered ferrous metal particulates, which have been converted entirely to rust and disintegrates forming a miscible emulsion that can be rinsed away. It starts off green, then red and then to blood red. Allow to remain in place for a minute, agitate and rinse.

If you are familiar with detailing clay, you know it is capable of removing above surface contaminants that have bonded to the paint surface. This product is designed to remove what lies below the paint surface. Airborne chemical compounds and ferrous particles containing iron actually penetrate the paint and create corrosive compounds that eat deep into the paint`s substrate. This is a gradual process that often is not evident until it`s too late.

Once every two or three months or so alternate a good shampoo with CarPro Iron X Soap Gel, it cleans your paint surface and removes brake dust iron contaminants at same time, while leaving a very smooth and slippery surface and requires a very little to clean dirt and salt very efficiently.

This product is basically a gel shampoo you rub on the surface with a damp sponge or waffle weave micro fibre towel and rinse it off, its pH neutral; you can use it on any surface. Rinse surfaces thoroughly after use

    Application

    1. Rinse the surface using clean water to remove dust and any contaminants.

    2. Spray IronX Soap Gel onto a wet synthetic sponge

    3. Agitate the surface and it will start to produce a foam, when the product encounters metallic contamination it will change colour

    4. Thoroughly rinse and then dry the surface

    Alternatative products

I was going to try clay. Can the clay come in contact with the rubber trim or will it damage it? Like I said there are about 3 or 4 spots right under the very edge of the outside bottom window trim. Also would possibly a paint detailer/cleaner work to remove them?

    Thanks
