I`m new to polishing scene and have a Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher. I understand the concept of polishing and had great results for my first time on my 95 Toyota Supra black single stage paint with the M105/M205 combo. I`m working on my brothers 2005 black Toyota Corolla right now and it`s tough even with the Flex. The car has a good amount of scratches. After using a Meguiars M105 with the yellow Meguiars Soft Buff 2.0, the scratches are very visible still even tho its a little better. I`m using the Flex at speed 6 with moderate pressure. Am I doing something wrong? Is the M105, not enough cutting power? I`ve never done a car with a clear coat (assuming this one has one). I`m afraid to the wet sanding ordeal.

If the scratches are as bad as they sound, you probably wont be able to buff them out. Does the scratch catch your fingernail when you run it across?
