    The second step in the Mirror process, again using specialized buffing bonnets and techniques, heats the paint causing the surface layer to reflow and seal itself, producing the unique finish that leaves no residue or coating to wear off.

    So what is it? Is it a scam? Is it any different than a good polish, seal, and wax? My gut tells me it`s a scam. I`m not considering it, but a friend is. He was quoted $200 to do this "special" three part treatment.

    Its an incredible new technique called polishing! Some people like put a lengthy description of what polishing is and make it sound like the next miracle in automotive detailing to help sell their services (or "snake oil" new products).

    *edit* reading about the people praising "MING", it sounds just like they polish the scratches out of your car and put on a nano coating like Opti Coat, considering he claims he doesn`t need his car waxed for the next 3 years.

    Run, Forrest. run, their "polishing" technique is the process that has destroyed more clears than you will ever know.

    Just a standard polymer sealant is applied.

    People have become aware of them, they started back in the 70`s, and so they have very few operating franchises left.

    From the Ming website:::::

    Ming is neither a wax or a coating. In fact MING is more a process then a finish. The MING process enhances the natural paint finish by smoothing out pits and valleys (sometimes called "pores") in every painted surface where dirt, grime, and pollutants collect. In a conventional treatment waxes or polishes are rubbed or buffed into these pores to cover the paint. The shine comes from the ingredients of the wax or coating. With MING, the shine you see is the reflection of the natural clear paint surface not the wax or coating.

    Along with smoothing out the pits and valleys , the MING process toughens and hardens the paint making it resistant to the detrimental effects of the environment. The only upkeep necessary is a gentle, weekly washing. You need not wax or polish your vehicle for 3 years.

    Aren`t these guys also claiming that they "re-flow" paint too at one time of another???

    Any time I hear talk of re-flowing paint it gets me nervous; the concern becomes what kind of long-term effects are left behind. By nature if you`re going to "re-flow" paint, especially a crosslinked clear coat, you`re messing with its cured matrix and softening it. They`re then claiming their process "toughens and hardens the paint," how so?
