rust spots

So, i picked up a new daily beater today..



a 94 Honda Accord.



It has a few small rust spots on one of the rear doors where the car was sideswiped .



I was just wondering what is the best way to go about cleaning it up, and preventing the rust from spreading.



I dont want to spend much, as it is a beater, but I dont want the rust to spread. I have pretty much a full complement of detailing products as I do some details on the side, but I do not have any wet sanding stuff (yet, and if that is what is needed)

Check this stuff out: Rust Converter. Clean up the rust spots depending on how big they are with maybe a little sanding and apply this stuff. It does change the color of the rust spot to black but it will stop rust and you can then either touch it up or spray some form of primer on it if you want. I use to use that rust converter loooong ago.

found something similar to what vtec92civic posted, at Autozone...a rustolem product that turns rust into primer...but requires sanding..





is there anything that doesnt require this to help this rust from not spreading?



I will wetsand if I have to...guess I need to learn how to anyway.....

i`m sure you can get a can of primer and blast it and then get some white spray paint and shoot it over just to do a quick cover up but to do it right i would use some form of rust prevention as i mentioned to help make sure it is stopped in its tracks.

I have always used POR 15. Never seen it come back.

I`d remove as much rust as possible abrasively, then use Eastwood`s Rust Converter, then their Rust Encapsulator, and then I`d top with an enamel-based touch up paint. I did that on the beater-Blazer and it was still fine when I sold the car (to my painter`s son, who hasn`t needed to fix it properly yet and it`s been years now).
