Hello all, I was just wondering what types of tricks or tips do any of you have for detailing SUVs?

I don`t wash my car as often as I should partly because it`s a royal pain in the *** to clean things like the roof top. I also have problems with hard water and by the time I clean say the roof and try to dry it, there are already water spots on it!

I`ve those mops on a stick sort of wash pads for the roof and IME they are ok but not super great.

I`ve tried regular garden hose and power washer. I have better luck with the power washer cleaning the roof because I can foam it with the foam attachment and then blast it away.

Any other tricks you guys use would be greatly appreciated. It would also help a lot of people here who work on SUV`s I`m sure... Unless there is a thread like this already.

Hope to see your posts!! :wavey

Scrub the whole vehicle with a mitt and soap, however, wait until you are completely done scrubbing before you rinse the soap off. The soap may dry on the vehicle (this is fine) and it will prevent water spots from forming.

Move faster????. Sounds like your already doing things just fine. You`re just taking too much time to get the water off. Don`t wash out in the sun if possible. And if it`s still drying to fast then take an air gun and purge the drops off fast.

Letting the soap dry will prevent water spots when you do rinse it?? Interesting...

    Funny.

I guess the dried soap distracts from the water spots....

That is what I do too. I have a lot of customers with trucks and SUVs and ONR is a huge time saver on larger vehicles.

The only thing I can imagine is that, water spots are just mineral deposits, and as such they might suspend themselves in the soap particles so when you rinse it; it all just slides away.
